Marissa K. Munderloh (born 1987) obtained her M.Litt in Cultural identity Studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Her thesis was titled “The Third Space in Cinema: cultural hybridity in the films of Fatih Akin”. After graduating in 2010 she continued her education in St Andrews as a PhD student in German Studies. Under the supervision of Dr Michael Gratzke, Marissa is currently examining German hip hop culture in connection to urban identity by specifically comparing the German cities of Oldenburg (Oldb) and Hamburg. From April until August 2012, Marissa will be working as a visiting research fellow in the Graduate School for Media and Communication at the University of Hamburg. Thereby she will complete her field research on the local hip hop scene before returning back to Scotland.
