Amaranta is a Master of Arts in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies from the universities of Roskilde (Denmark) and Kassel (Germany), where her research focus was the scope of blogging in citizen engagement in Chile. Since October 2010, she is PhD candidate at the GMaC, where she works under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink for her research project “Civic Engagement through Social Media in Chile: Exploring its potential to reinforce social cohesion”. Her current research interest is the integration and participation possibilities of social media in Chile and Latin America, and the media competences applied. She hopes to link the latter with her interest on social cohesion and development in the region.
